The Comecon Collection

It all started with an MZ ES 175/1. My mate Mark was told about it, couldn't afford it so bullied me into buying it. That was probably 20 years ago. We ended up with collections of communist block bikes. We always joked about opening a museum. Then in November 2010 Mark died suddenly from heart failure at the age of 44. Ive been helping his friends clear his collection of bikes and parts,and realised Ive got to get moving and start getting my bikes sorted registered and on the road.

IWL Pitty

At the same time as we picked up the Doppelport, we collected a predecessor of the Troll. With a 125cc 3 speed motor from MZ the IWL Pitty was similar to the Goggomobil, and a few other scooters of the time, in having a bulbous all enclosing front shield. The paint is hammer effect blue and appears to be original so when this makes it way into the garage I wont be repainting it, but giving it a coat or two of Owatrol. However the wiring needs looking at as it is the original rubber insulated with laquered cotton sheathing and its cracking up.

Really cool motocyle huh...Just wondering if this is functional? Do you also use Owatrol Rustol to restore the machine?

Hi Alice. It is a wonderful looking scooter. Its not running at the moment but the engine is good so should be easy enough to bring back to life (if only I had the time!). Not used Owatrol Rustol yet as Im trying to preserve as much of the original as possible but might get some for some other projects

The Pitty is a beautiful machine and you're lucky to get your hands on one in such good condition. Look forward to seeing on the road ... slowly...
